India's Supreme Court granted bail to five company executives charged in the so-called 2G telecom spectrum scam, the BBC reports.
The court granted bail to Sanjay Chandra, Vinod Goenka, Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara on Wednesday. All of them belong to firms associated with telecoms and were arrested in May.
Former telecoms minister A Raja and member of parliament Kanimozhi remain in jail, along with the rest of the 14 people from telecom firms and the government charged in connection with the case.
The corruption case — touted as the largest corruption scandal in Indian history — involves the alleged selling of mobile phone frequency licences for a fraction of their value. So far all those charged have denied any wrongdoing.
