British man sues hospital for removing healthy testicle

More bad news for the British health care system: A British man, who had the wrong testicle removed during cancer surgery is suing the hospital in Salisbury where the mishap occurred.

According to Metro, a UK-based paper, the man is worried that he's never going to be able to father children now that he's lost his reproductive organs.

Doctors realized in the middle of the surgery that they'd removed the healthy testicle and froze it immediately. Though a plastic surgeon was called in, and attempts to reattach the organ were made, the process wasn't successful.

A hospital spokesperson said that the incident was regrettable. "The trust once again offers its sincere apologies to the patient," he said, the Salisbury Journal reported.

A watchdog group in the region is calling for an investigation.
