AP cited officials as saying the first incident, which took place near Kandahar city, involved a gun attack by men in Afghan police uniforms that injured two US soldiers.

A few hours later in the same southern province, NATO troops were reportedly targeted by a machine gun-weilding Afghan soldier in an attack that killed at least one US soldier and another person, officials told AP.
Kandahar provincial governor spokesman confirmed that two US soldiers had been wounded Wednesday in an assault by several Afghan police officers in comments to United Press International.
Officials spoke to AP on the condition of anonymity because NATO does not disclose information about attacks in which soldiers are wounded.
The violence suggest troubling tension between Afghan police and coaltion forces as international troops ready for the planned 2014 withdrawal from the country, said AP.
