A second bomb threat in as many days forced a Korean Air 777 to make an emergency landing at a Canadian military base shortly after it departed Vancouver for Seoul on Tuesday, CBC News said.

Korean Air’s call center in Los Angeles reportedly received the threat shortly after Flight 72 took off, KAL spokesman James Koh told CBC.

He said police have recordings of the threats, the first of which came on Monday against Flight 72 and forced a two-hour delay as police searched the plane and cleared the passengers, according to CBC.

The voice spoke English, Koh said.

The flight landed at Canadian Forces Base Comox on Vancouver Island at 5:30 p.m. PT with two US fighter jets as an escort, The Globe and Mail said.

The jets were on a routine NORAD patrol from Portland, Ore., a Canadian Forces representative said.

“The only information we can confirm is there was an in-flight emergency,” Lt. Trevor Reid told the Globe. “We have all emergency assets stood up and they are standing by.”

The plane – which had 134 passengers and 12 crew aboard – remained at Comox late Tuesday, the Victoria Times-Colonist newspaper reported.

“Twenty-five minutes after takeoff from Vancouver International Airport, the US call center received a call that there was a threat on board the aircraft,” KAL’s Penny Pfaelzer wrote in an email to the Times-Colonist. “After discussion with the related departments, we decided to turn the aircraft.”
