The Western world got the chance to step back in time thanks to a series of photos released by North Korea's news agency this week.
What the photos seem to tell us is that North Korea’s air force is populated by a sassy bunch of gals just over the moon for a fella named Kim Jong Un.
North Korea is totally prepared for World War III, with uniforms left over from the last World War.
Photos released on Friday by the Workers Party through the state-run Korean Central News Agency showed Kim meeting a group of fawning female fighter pilots in full leather and bomber jackets.
Kim was there to watch flight drills of the KPA Air and Anti-Air Force Unit 2620, according to the Daily Mail.
The women rush to grab the 31-year-old Kim’s hand, stand next to him for photos and generally gush.
Maybe they're a clever election campaign ploy designed to show off Kim as likable and powerful. This weekend, “voters” head to the polls in North Korea to elect a parliament, Reuters reported.
Kim is running for the first time in national elections. The vote is held every five years, and this is Kim’s first attempt to win a seat since taking over in 2012 after his father’s death.
“I feel very grateful for your expression of deep trust in me and extend warm thanks from the bottom of my heart,” Kim said as he announced his candidacy.
He is running unopposed in the electoral district of Paektusan, the legendary birthplace of his father, Kim Jong Il and home to an inactive volcano.
[Of course, as with anything coming out of North Korea, it's impossible to verify the authenticity of these photos.]
