Fruit flies may benefit more from organic food than we do.
Southern Methodist University researchers found that fruit flies that chowed on organic produce were healthier than those which ate conventional produce.
The flies had longer life spans when they consumed organic raisins, potatoes and soy.
"To our surprise, in the majority of our tests of flies on organic foods, the flies fed organic diets did much better on our health tests than the flies fed conventional food," wrote co-author Johannes Bauer, in a press release.

"Longevity and fertility are the two most important aspects of fly life. On both of these tests, flies fed organic diets performed much better than flies fed conventional diets."
Researchers ended their findings on a downer.
"There isn't much difference between organic and conventional foods, if you're an adult and making a decision based solely on your health," said study author Dena Bravata.
The findings were published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
