Erin go bragh! The world celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

GlobalPost

Break out the beads and green beer! It's time to celebrate all things Ireland.

Irish eyes were smiling as millions crowded bars and downtowns around the world for annual St. Patrick's Day celebrations Monday.

Green wigs, red beards and leprechaun hats abounded from Dublin to far-flung countries like Japan.

On a more sober note, Guinness and other beer companies boycotted the St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City over the parade organizers' refusal to allow participants to carry pro-gay rights signs.

NYC Mayor Bill DiBlasio became the first mayor in decades to sit out the traditional march.

The brewer Samuel Adams withdrew its sponsorship of Boston's parade over similar issues.

Here's a look at some of the best celebrations.
