The nation of France reportedly stands with President Obama on the question of intervention in Syria.
Although there is no expectation they would be part of a U.S.-led attack, the French have a military presence in the Mediterranean and led the effort to remove Muammar Gaddafi from power in Libya.
But having the French on board in this case could be a problem for the long memories in Congress, which got testy over French criticism of the U.S. invasion of Iraq back in 2003.
Joining us is Dominique Moisi, Senior Adviser at the French Institute for International Affairs. He joins The Takeaway to discuss why France is so ready to intervene in Syria.
