Photographer Uses Civil War Era Technique in Afghanistan

In the age of digital cameras, it's not all that common to see photographers use laborious techniques to capture photos. Especially not in war zones. 
But photographer Ed Drew, a staff Sergeant in the California Air National Guard, has taken up the challenge. 
He used a civil-war-era technique to create portraits of his fellow comrades in Afghanistan. The results are stunning.
