Cyclists Sprint to the Finish at the Tour de France

The World

Our Geo Quiz looks out over the handlebars.

The Tour de France always ends on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.

But that’d be too easy a Quiz. And the grueling mountain stages of the tour are over so we can’t ask you about the Pyrenees.

So here’s a question: where did Friday’s stage of the tour, the 18th of 20 in all, end up?

The finish line was in the town of Brive-la-Gaillarde. Now, can you name this region of France?

It’s a rural farming area in the south-west of France where herds of distinctive chestnut-red cows roam all over the place.

The town of Brive-la-Gaillarde is located in the Limousin * region in south-west France, the answer to today’s Geo Quiz.

The BBC’s Neil Curry has been watching the tour and says the sprint to the finish on Stage 18 was awesome.

The name of the French region is Limousin.

* Yes, limousines are named after the region of Limousin.
