New translation of Arabian Nights

The World
The World

(This ancient book is so well known, why do we need a new translation?) Because all the previous translations are inadequate. The first translation was from Arabic to French and was for the purposes of serving as an encyclopedia on Arab culture and he made a lot of mistakes. The English translation relied on this French translation. Then the next translation had a lot of omissions but the next translation went even further and overstated a lot of parts and also used a lot of archaic language. The stories should read much more naturally and shouldn’t have huge literary pretensions. (The original Arabian Nights were written when?) That’s impossible to answer. The first manuscript dates from the 15th century but there were certainly earlier versions, one perhaps from before the time of Christ. (What will draw people back to read this newest translation?) What killed readings of Arabian Nights are the poor translations of prior versions. We hope this new translation will give new inspiration.
