Musician and poet K’Naan recently returned to his native Somalia, which is in the grip of a devastating famine and violent civil war. His last memories of the country were twenty years ago, when he fled with other members of his family for safety in Canada. K’Naan talks about his recent return to Somalia, his hopes and expectations before he went back and the reality he witnessed when he travelled throughout the country. He wrote an op-ed about his journey for Sunday’s New York Times.
