Intimidation in Zimbabwe

DS says getting out of the country after being detained was an ordeal: I was trying to leave in the airport, and I was detained by authorities prior to customs and then held in interrogation for almost 22 hours. (Where was that? What were the conditions like?) That was at Harare Central Police station. (How did they treat you?) They made it clear they would not harm my person or property. That said, I was detained for 22 hours and kept in country for five days after. (Where were you then?) For the majority of time I was at police headquarters waiting for them to do something. At no point was a charge brought against me so the detention was illegal. (What’s your understanding of what was going on there?) I think the interrogation intention and the crackdown that has been happening is part of the deterioration of the political situation in the country as a whole following the elections and part of the waiting game for the election results. I think this case was tied in this waiting game.
