For many Beirutis, going to this Hezbollah stronghold neighborhood is viewed with suspicion if not outright fear. The Buns and Guns owner says that is not the case, and he says business has been booming. The waitstaff dress in camouflage and fake guns and sandbags dot the restaurant. The owner says he’s not glorifying war but poke fun at Lebanon’s past. The recipe reads like a weapon list. I chat with some guys from downtown Beirut about the restaurant and they say they like it. The owner does a good job of putting people at ease.
