It's been a great year for Adele, and on Friday the Grammy award-winning British singer announced another milestone.
The 24-year-old singer's representative confirmed that Adele is expecting her first child with boyfriend Simon Konecki, according to the Associated Press.
In a message posted on her official website, Adele said, "I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together. I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time."
The AP reported that due to high traffic following the announcement, her website crashed.
Adele said the couple was "over the moon" and "very excited," according to CNN. She also asked for people to "please respect our privacy at this time."

Adele is thought to have met Konecki last year, and told Vogue earlier this year, "He's wonderful." She continued, "And he’s proud of me, but he don’t care about what I do or what other people think. He looks after me. I don’t think I would have gotten through the recovery for my surgery if it hadn’t been for him," according to CNN.
ABC News noted that Konecki heads the charity Drop4Drop, which works on bringing clean water to developing countries.

The last year and a half have seen Adele top the global charts with her album "21," which is still in the top 10 of the US Billboard 200 album chart, according to Reuters.
She picked up six Grammy awards in February for "21" and the single "Rolling in the Deep."
