Seven years ago, a busload of idealistic young students from a rural Mexican college were making plans to attend a demonstration in Mexico City.
Along the road, police abducted the 43 students who were training to become teachers — and then, they vanished.
A new podcast by Reveal, “After Ayotzinapa,” delves into the mystery of what happened to the young men and why so many people seem intent on covering up their disappearance.
The podcast starts the night when Mexican police ambushed the students and features audio from that evening, which had never been broadcast before.
“After Ayotzinapa” includes chapters one, two and three with video, documents and other media.
The World’s Carol Hills speaks with the project’s lead producer Anayansi Diaz-Cortes and human rights investigator Kate Doyle from the National Security Archive about their investigation into what happened to the students.
