Arts on the Chopping Block: Your Town

Studio 360

The brouhaha over budgets means arts funding remains on the chopping block across the country. A couple of weeks ago we looked at Kansas where the governor had eliminated the State Arts Commission. Kurt talked to Roger Reitz, a Republican State Senator who is bucking his own party in a fight to restore funding.

“You know St. Paul said ‘hold fast to that which is good.’ I’ve never forgotten that phrase in the Bible, that’s in Romans. When you think of it that way, when you’ve got something good, don’t throw it away. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Kansas is better than that.”

We’ll continue to watch happens in Kansas. But there are lots of other places where the arts are in danger of losing funding. And that’s where we need your help.
