After an all-night foot patrol, dawn breaks over Kandahar City and Canadian soldiers from India Company, 2nd Battalion, board their Light Armored Vehicles for an operation aimed at disrupting Taliban activity on the outskirts of the city. After a stop at a Kandahar City Police Station, several Afghan police officers join the mission.
The mission takes the patrol to a rural road in the vast farmland south of Kandahar city. With every stop, the soldiers search around their vehicles to ensure they haven’t parked near any roadside bombs, called IEDs in military parlance.
The patrol encountered one car all night, which turned out to be a local farmer.
