Photos: Solar cars race across desert

A Chilean car named Intikalpa has triumphed in Latin America's first solar car race.

The car — whose name means solar energy in the indigenous Quechua language of the Andes — beat out its 29 competitors from 30 countries in a 660-mile race through the Atacama Desert, reports AFP.

It's average speed was 46 miles per hour.

Check out photos from the race.
