Colombian supermodel Angie Sanclemente Valencia went on trial this week in Buenos Aires for drug-trafficking.
Valencia has been accused of running a drug-smuggling ring, using models she recruited to smuggle drugs to Europe. She has denied the charges, saying she made a few calls for her fiancé, an alleged drug trafficker known as The Monster.
He has also been arrested.
“God knows I did it for love,” she said.
Prosecutors allege that she tapped young women to work as drug mules. One tipped off the police. But her lawyers say there's no evidence to prove the case.
The former beauty queen, who also briefly held the title Colombian Coffee Queen, was on the run for months before she was arrested last year. She later told police that she feared being harmed in jail.
