Miss Venezuela takes the crown

Here she is, Miss World.

Miss Venezuela was awarded the title on Sunday night in the pageant, which was held in London. She took the crown in a giant, pink feathery dress.

Say what you will, but we approved.

Ivian Sarcos, 21, has a degree in human resources and aims to use her title to work with children. Sarcos grew up with 12 siblings, so she probably knows what she's talking about. According to the Miss World site, she's already started a foundation for children.

What else should you know about her? Sarcos loves chicken soup and pabellon, a traditional Venezuelan dish. She also enjoys volleyball, mountaineering and trekking.

Venezuelan women are pretty tough contenders when it comes to beauty pageants, apparently. Check out this GlobalPost interview with a past competitor.
