Jon Stewart and the Daily Show tackles the US debt downgrade

The ongoing war against stupidity has, once again, moved to Jon Stewart and the Daily Show.

The Comedy Central show last night skewered the biggest business and economics story of the week: the S&P downgrade of U.S. debt from AAA to AA+.

Stewart's best joke? "Standard and Poor's. Who's going to listen to a company whose name translates to average and below average?"

Mocking cable news coverage of Wall Street's Monday plunge, Stewart also offered these helpful suggestions: "Crashitocious? Diaharreahtasically?"

And, yes, the U.S. credit rating is now lower than the Isle of Man.

Laugh it up, folks.
