Joe Biden leaves door open for 2016 presidential run

In an interview with CNN, Vice President Joe Biden left the door open for a presidential run in 2016.

CNN's Candy Crowley asked Biden if he ever thinks about making a third run for president a few years from now.

"My one focus now is getting the President re-elected, that is the focus," Biden responded. "And I'll make up my mind on that later."

Biden went on: "I'm in probably the best shape I've been in my life. I'm doing pretty well. I'm enjoying what I'm doing, and as long as I do, I'm going to continue to do it."

According to the U.S. Senate's Historical Office, fourteen former vice presidents have gone on to serve as president of the United States, although seven did so after a president died.

Biden, who will turn 69 in November, previously ran for president in 1988 and 2008. Biden was first elected to the Senate in 1972, and was tapped by President Barack Obama to be his running mate on August 23, 2008, according to The New York Times.
