Friends and relatives of Amy Winehouse attended the funeral of the 27-year-old pop singer on July 26, 2011. A private service was held at Edgwarebury Cemetery in Edgware, North London followed by a cremation at the Golders Green crematorium. The family then headed to Schindler Hall in Southgate for a shiva, the traditional period of mourning in the Jewish faith, according to the Guardian.
Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London on July 23, 2011, however the autopsy that was carried out in the aftermath failed to establish the cause of her death. While Winehouse struggled with a drug addiction during her career, the artist's father Mitch Winehouse confirmed that she managed to beat her battle with drugs months before her death and had a "fantastic recovery," according to the Daily Mail.
Winehouse was best known for her song "Rehab" as well as her album "Back to Black," which won five Grammy awards. Fans gathered at the singer's residence in Camden Town London to pay their tributes to her with flowers and messages, as well as alcohol and cigarettes.
