Women told to vomit, urinate if being raped (VIDEO)

Women are advised to vomit and urinate to deter a rapist says an advisory on the website of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

The new recommendations were posted online Monday after a series of gun safety bills were passed in the Colorado legislature, said CNN.

As of Thursday, the university put a statement on their website saying the wording was taken out of context.

They also included a video on protecting yourself from rape as a women (see below).

One of the bills was a ban on carrying concealed weapons on college campuses.

During the debate about the bills, Colorado Rep. Joe Salazar suggested that women use security and whistles, instead of guns, to deter rape.

GlobalPost wrote that he said: 

“It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, it’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at,” he said, according to the Denver Post.

“And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop … pop a round at somebody.”

The words sparked controversy and an eventual apology.
