Ted Nugent to meet Secret Service backstage

Ted Nugent has given his Secret Service admirers backstage passes to a show Thursday in Oklahoma, Bloomberg reported today.

The rocker and gun control opponent has to explain why he called President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden “criminals” on the weekend.

At a National Rifle Association convention in St. Louis, Nugent also said he would be “dead or in jail” if Obama was re-elected this November.

During a radio interview today with Glenn Beck, Nugent insisted he’s not coming after anyone, and the situation has been overblown.

“I’ve never threatened anybody’s life in my life,” Nugent said, according to Bloomberg. “I don’t waste my breath threatening.”

Nugent – whose biggest hit was 1977’s “Cat Scratch Fever” – said he wanted to unite the right ahead of the fall election, The Associated Press reported. 

He called reaction from the Democratic National Committee “silly,” according to the AP, even though Nugent said Obama is leading an “evil, America-hating administration.”

During his interview in St. Louis, Nugent repeatedly told the audience to rally against Obama and the Democrats.

“We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November,” Nugent said, the AP reported.

Nugent, 63, has released more than 30 albums during a 50-year music career.

He also owns a hunting farm and sits on the NRA board of directors.
