A New York City bus driver is being hailed as a hero after catching a 7-year-old girl who fell from the third-story window of an apartment building.

Cellphone video taken by a resident in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn shows the girl standing on an air conditioning unit moments before falling into the bushes below, ABC News reported.

Her fall was broken by the arms of Steven St. Bernard, who rushed to the scene and caught her.

St. Bernard torn a tendon in his left shoulder but is otherwise all right. Amazingly, the girl was uninjured.

"I saw her in the hospital. She doesn't have a scratch on her," St. Bernard told New York TV station WABC.

Friends and neighbors are calling the 52-year-old bus driver and father of four a hero, but he said he was just in the right place at the right time.

"No. A hero is a sandwich. I just saw a kid, that's it," St. Bernard said.

The girl is autistic and managed to get onto the A/C unit by pushing through one of the side vents, WABC reported.
