World and European football champions Spain will have plenty of time for sightseeing in London after crashing out of the Olympic Games today.
Spain lost 1-0 to Honduras in a surprise upset.
According to the Guardian, Honduras took an early lead thanks to a goal from Jerry Bengtson in the eighth minute of the game in Newcastle.
Spain, who lost their opening match 1-0 to Japan, hit the edge of the goal three times in the second half but failed to equalize, the Daily Mail reported.
"As coaches we have to an analyze why we have been knocked out. We are out of the Olympic Games – but we prepared very well for it, " Spain’s coach, Luis Milla, said after the final whistle.
“As you can imagine everyone is very sad, everyone is disappointed. We worked well, we played well and put on a good show and we still believe in the way we play and our ideology."
The Hondurans progress from Group D along with Japan, who beat Morocco 1-0, the BBC reported.
Reuters reported title favorites Brazil are also through to the quarter finals after defeating Belarus 3-1.
Mexico also looks set to advance to the final eight after beating Gabon 2-0 earlier today.
The Spanish will be studying their guidebooks.
