Gentlemen, this is the idea (shoe change advised): fashion watchers predict men will take to “meggings” — short for male leggings — in 2013.
Men in tights are set to usher in the new year with the rise of "meggings" (male leggings), NBC said, citing the style gurus.
They are the "latest must-have for fashion conscious boys," said Britain's Daily Mail, noting they have already been spotted on trend-setting hotties like Russell Brand, Justin Bieber and Noel Fielding.
"Geez why don't they just get it over with and come up with the SMIRT (mans skirt) or the SMESS? (mans dress),'" one person said in response to the the British report, according to NBC, noting the commentator's "knack for coining fashion terminology."
Not everyone is thrilled by the specter of more spandex, of course. "'Men in tights?" New Yorker Gabriel Cru guffawed. "'Get out of here,'" the 35-year-old told The Daily Mail.
"'We don’t do men in tights in New York. That’s European.’"
