Obama on Jimmy Fallon: He slow jams the news (VIDEO)

At first there was his rendition of Al Green.  Then it was Sweet Home Chicago

Now, the Commander in Chief has slow jammed the news with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on Wednesday night.

"What we said is simple: Now is not the time to make school more expensive for our young people," Obama said to a crowd of University Hill college students. Wild applause ensued. Obama used the slow-jam segment (usually featured with Brian Williams) to continue to urge Congress to prevent interest rates on subsidized student loans from doubling to 6.8 percent.

Republicans today seized on the levity of the event to portray Obama as less than serious in a time of crisis, according to NPR.

In a two-minute YouTube video, Obama's appearance on Fallon's show is interspliced with remarks that Mitt Romney, the all-but-assured GOP nomineee, made after sweeping five primaries on Tuesday.

It ends with the Twitter hastag #NotFunny. As NPR's Frank James observed, the video "appeared to be the RNC's attempt to take Obama's coolness asset and turn it into a liability while at the same time trying to make Romney's serious and stiff managerial style a plus."
