A California man is arrested after authorities say he tried to smuggle more than 4 pounds of meth from Los Angeles to Japan in what looked like Snickers candy bars.

Rogelio Mauricio Harris, 34, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport  by special agents with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations while preparing to board a flight to Japan, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Agents found the 45 suspicious-looking Snickers bars during a routine inspection of Harris' checked luggage.

Each candy bar was coated with a chocolate-like substance and contained a white, crystalline powder subsequently determined to be methamphetamine, according to the New York Daily News.

Authorities estimate the 4 pounds of meth is worth about $250,000.

Harris was charged in Los Angeles with drug possession and faces at least 10 years in prison if convicted, The Associated Press reported.
