Hollywood hacker behind Johansson nude photo release gets 10 years

A Hollywood hacker with a 50-plus celebrity history got a 10-year sentence today, reported the Associated Press. 

Christopher Chaney of Florida was accused hacking into the personal electronic accounts of a number of celebrities, among them Scarlett Johansson and Christina Aguilera, said AP. 

The Los Angeles trial is part of a longstanding FBI probe nicknamed  "Operation Hackerazzi," said BBC News, which got major attention with the leaking of nude Johansson photos. 

The actress said the pictures were meant for her then-husband, said AP, describing a tearful videotaped testimony from the actress in which she said: "I have been truly humiliated and embarrassed." 

Chaney confessed to accessing the data by hitting the "forgot password" option on the email accounts of over 50 Hollywood stars and getting past security questions by way of publicly-available information about their lives, said BBC. He also admitted to wiretapping the phones of some of his victims. 

"It's hard to fathom the mindset of a person who would accomplish all of this," the judge said today, comparing the actions to physical stalking, according to AP. 

The 35-year-old faced a potentially 60-year sentence, said AP, quoting Chaney as telling the court today: "I don't know what else to say other than I'm sorry."
