French town hires killer to strangle pigeons

It was revealed recently that a small city in France hired an employee to strangle thousands of pigeons.

Faced with the proliferation of pigeons, the city of Metz decided to take matters into their own hands – literally.

A city worker was hired to strangle as many pigeons as he could capture, said 20 Minutes.

It was believed the method would have allowed the city to eliminate between two and three thousand of the pesky birds.

That is until conservation groups got involved.

The Bird Protection League of Moselle called the method laid out to get rid of the birds as "barbaric," said Planet.fr.

The city said it was now exploring "less brutal" options to control their pigeon population.
