Elvis Presley’s bible auctioned off for $94,000

After the dirty underwear and the crypt, what else of Elvis Presley's is there left to auction off, at this point?

Well, a bible. The holy book belonging to the King of Rock 'n Roll was sold in the UK on Saturday to the tune of $94,000. 

The 1,600-page leather-bound New Testament was a gift to Presley by his Uncle Vester and Aunt Clettes, in honor of his first Christmas at Graceland in 1957, BBC News reported.

"It was a really exciting atmosphere in the room," said Karen Fairweather, the sales manager for Omega Auctions, the Business Standard reported. "We had 300 people and there was bidding online and on the telephone across the world. You could hear a pin drop when it sold for that price. There was a round of applause when the hammer went down. It was incredible."

The winning bidder, an American based in the UK who won the item over the phone, did not wish to be named, the Standard reported. 

The entire Elvis collection up for auction, which was owned by one British collector, netted a profit of over $127,000, according to the Guardian. 

However, the unwashed underpants—which Elvis wore under his infamous white jumpsuit in 1977—didn't sell.
