Burger King drive-thru funeral honors deceased
Funeral procession passes by Burger King to fulfill deceased man’s wish.
Some of us have elaborate post-mortem requests, others just want a simple gesture to celebrate their life.
David Kime Jr. wanted a burger and fries at Burger King – his favorite fast food joint.
The World War II veteran, who died on Jan. 20 at 88, was buried with a "Whopper Jr." from Burger King, said the New York Daily News.
He had requested his funeral procession pass by the restaurant for a meal on its way to the cemetery.
Each mourner purchased a burger for the road, with an extra for the deceased man.
His burger was placed on his coffin during the ceremony.
"He lived a wonderful life and on his own terms," his wife said of him, reported the Associated Press.
Kime died of heart complications, reported the Gothamist.
He apparently consumed Burger King hamburgers several times per week and was known by the restaurant's staff who appreciated the business.
“It’s nice to know he was a loyal customer up until the end — the very end,” said Kime's local Burger King's manager, reported the Daily News.
