Bradley Wiggins, Tour de France champ, injured in crash

Bradley Wiggins, Tour de France champion and Olympic gold medalist, has been hospitalized in Northwestern England after he collided with a van on his bike and injured several ribs.
The cyclist was reportedly hit by a white Vauxhall Astra Van as it was pulling out of a filling station, Velo Nation reported. The accident occurred in Wrightington, Lancashire, which is near to Wiggins' family home in Eccleston, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, RTE News reported.

"He was taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening. His condition is stable," Lancashire police told BBC Sport. "His family have made aware of what has happened. The driver of the Astra car is a local woman who was not injured but she is helping police with inquiries."
This past July, Wiggins became the first British cyclist to ever win the Tour de France. The Team Sky racer also won a fourth Olympic gold medal in the time trial at the London Olympics just a few weeks later, RTE reported.
