Beyonce stole the show and maybe a little too much of the Super Bowl's electricity Sunday night.
After the singer's high-watt halftime performance — which included pyrotechnics and a suprise reunion with her Destiny's Child bandmates — half of the New Orleans Superdome went black.
It took 34 minutes to restore power. Finally back on the field, the San Francisco 49ers started to show signs of life after a sluggish first half, but it wasn't enough to reclaim the lead from the Baltimore Ravens, who clinched a victory in the fourth quarter.
But, despite the night's odd details, it wasn't just the blackout or the surprise effects that made Beyonce's show memorable. The triple-threat performer brought an intensity to the stage set to banish any doubts that may have lingered after her inauguration lip-sync.
Who else can hold a candle to B? In GlobalPost's humble opinion, at least four other acts. In no particular order, here are our picks for the top five halftime shows in the Super Bowl's 47-year history.
1. Prince, Super Bowl XLI:
2. Rolling Stones, Super Bowl XL
3. Beyonce, Super Bowl XLVII
4. Bruce Springsteen, Super Bowl XLIII
5. Madonna, Super Bowl KLVI
