Luckily, an off-duty paramedic was shopping nearby.

The 21-year veteran firefighter crafted makeshift tourniquets out of rags and twine from the store's shelves, likely saving the man's life, KTLA reported.

The man remains in intensive care after undergoing surgery at a nearby hospital.

Not surprisingly, the store was closed the rest of the day.
