On Location Video: Inside one of Afghanistan’s most important hospitals

KHOST, Afghanistan — Every two hours, a woman in Afghanistan dies from complications of pregnancy or childbirth. Bibi Miriam, pregnant with twins, worried she would become just another statistic.

"I was sick for more than seven days. My family told me I was not really sick; that I was faking it,” said Miriam, whose name has been changed to protect her identity.

She barely made it to a maternity hospital run by Doctors Without Borders when in labor with twins. Like many, she was desperate to get to a good hospital before it’s too late.
