Indian students cheat by the hundreds in national exams
1600 students in India were expelled after cheating on their national exams. Educators had never seen cheating at that scale.
About 1600 students were expelled from exams in the northern Indian state of Bihar for cheating.
Along with the cheating students, about 100 parents were detained for helping them cheat.
The students were writing national examinations when the cheating occurred.
"The students were expelled on charges of adopting unfair means," said an official of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), according to the BBC.
Approximately 1.3 million students across Bihar, one of India's poorest states, wrote the exams.

Nearly 400 were caught each day of the six-day exam period.
BBC pointed out that Bihar is one of India's poorest states.
It has an illiteracy rate 64 percent, considered one of the lowest rates in the country.
Widespread cheating occurred in various cities around the state, said IANS.
