Happy Holi… but save the water (PHOTOS)

Many state governments, politicians and Indian celebrities urged people celebrating Holi, the festival of colors, to forego using water.

The spring festival, which is traditionally celebrated with colored powder, often mixed with water to relieve the heat, fell on Wednesday this year.

"April really is the cruellest month in Mumbai, when the oppressive humidity and suffocating temperatures kick in. So, a mass water fight is an appropriate celebration in the city," said The Financial Times.

The state of Maharashtra, which Mumbai is located in, is facing its worst drought since 1972.
