A Friday In goes to Britain’s Lingfield Park for a day at the races

GlobalPost

There's nothing like a day at the races.

GlobalPost's London correspondent Corinne Purtill took us on a wild trot over to Lingfield Park, Britain's answer to the Kentucky Derby (minus the pomp, circumstance, and hats).

What Purtill lacked in knowledge, she made up for with enthusiasm and wicked sense of humor. If you haven't played "Race Horse or Stripper," you haven't lived.

A dose of beginner's luck raised  £18 for the Committee to Protect Journalists in honor of James Foley.

Not too shabby.

GlobalPost's @AFridayIn Twitter feed showcases the voices and personal experiences of our correspondents based around the world each week. A different correspondent takes over the @AFridayIn account each Friday and tweets about his or her travels and daily activities.
