The Scottish fought off the English army in what became known as the Battle of Bannockburn, which helped secure Scotland’s status as a separate nation within the United Kingdom.

700 years later, Scotland may soon take another historic step, voting to further cut ties with the UK and declare itself an independent country. The question on the September 18th referendum is simple: Independence, yes or no?
