A push to tackle issues of global gender inequality

The 1995 UN World Conference on Women in Beijing set out ambitious goals for nations to remove “all the obstacles to women's active participation in all spheres of public and private life through a full and equal share in economic, social, cultural and political decision-making.”

There was supposed to be total gender quality by 2005. Not exactly.

Twenty years after the conference, how is the world doing? It’s time to revisit those goals and progress towards equal access to critical needs for women and girls. Over the next few days, we'll look at the first of these issues.
