German Intelligence Officer: ‘Syria’s President Ordered Chemical Attack’

Germany’s foreign intelligence chief has delivered a secret briefing to German lawmakers linking Syria’s regime to the recent poison gas attack.
That’s according to Matthias Gebauer, a correspondent for the German publication Der Spiegel who has written about the briefing.
Gerhard Schindler, who heads the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND) offered German lawmakers a range of evidence, including an intercepted telephone call that apparently implicates Syrian President Bashar Assad in the use of chemical weapons.
The intelligence chief told lawmakers that German agents had recorded a conversation between a high-ranking member of the Lebanese militia Hezbollah, and an individual in the Iranian Embassy.
Schindler says the Hezbollah official seemed to admit that the order for the August 21 chemical attack came from President Assad himself.
