To characterize the music of Amos Lee would be unfair to both Lee and listeners. Imagine it this way: A guy who grew up in a home of the Philly sound, yet took his musical cues from artists like Neil Young and James Taylor. It’s this unlikely combination of Folk and Soul that best describes the unique nature of Lee’s music.

His latest CD, "Last Days at the Lodge" is released through Blue Note Records, the legendary Jazz music lable.

Lee joins Tavis Smiley in the studio to talk about how people connect to his music, his musical influences, how playing the guitar opened up a whole new world for him, and how the digital divide might deter people from getting to the music they want.

"The Tavis Smiley Show" is a weekly show offering a unique blend of news and newsmakers in expanded conversations, along with feature reports and regular commentators. "The Tavis Smiley Show" is produced by Tavis Smiley productions, and distributed nationwide by PRI.
