Shahzad Akbar on Drone Strikes in the Middle East

The Takeaway

The International Drones Summit took place in Washington last Thursday. That came just days after the United States announced it would ramp up drone strikes targeting terrorists in Yemen and several weeks after the Pakistani government’s demand that the United States end drone operations there. Shahzad Akbar, lawyer for the Pakistani victims of drone strikes and co-founder of Foundation for Fundamental Rights, spoke at the summit about the human cost of the American drone program in the Middle East.
