Governor Jack Markell on Delaware’s Hurricane Preparations

Hurricane Sandy is being called one of the buggest storms ever, and up and down the East Coast cities and states are planning for the worst.
In the past 48 hours, hundreds of thousands of people have been ordered to move from low lying areas. Schools and transit systems are closed, as is the New York Stock Exchange. Store shelves have been stripped of water, prepared food, and batteries.
The storm is expected to make landfall this evening somewhere between central New Jersey and southern Delaware. And when it does, the impact will likely to include significant flooding and power outages that could hit 60 million people.
Delaware Governor Jack Markell is putting plans in place for what could be a devastating night and aftermath. Already, many roads in his state are underwater and hundreds of people have fled to shelters.
