Dennis Rodman Visited the ‘Hermit Nation’ and You Can Too

The World

Dennis Rodman made headlines in North Korea on Friday.

The front page of the state newspaper showed the basketball star sitting next to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

And later, Rodman told reporters at the airport what he thought of his host. The former NBA player has now wrapped up his five day visit to the reclusive Communist nation.

Rodman traveled to the ‘hermit nation’ along with the Harlem Globetrotters, VICE magazine and HBO.

The trip wasn’t sanctioned by the State Department.

It came at a time of heightened tensions between the US and North Korea, just like the trip a few weeks ago by Google executive Eric Schmidt.

But, you don’t have to be a celebrity or an exeutive to travel to North Korea says Nick Bonner, the tour director for Koryo Tours based in Beijing, China.

The company’s been taking Americans to North Korea since 2002.

How does this work and what does this mean for one of the most closed off places in the world?

Anchor, Marco Werman talks with Koryo tour director Nick Bonner who has been taking tourists to North Korea for more than a decade.
