CIA’s Clandestine Chief Connected to Destruction of Torture Tapes

The acting head of the CIA’s prestigious clandestine service is connected to the controversial detention and “enhanced” interrogation policies adopted after 9/11, according to the Washington Post.

The woman, who remains undercover and cannot be named, also appears to have been closely involved in the decision to destroy videotapes of the interrogations at her old station, a black site in Thailand.

Her future could pose a dilemma for the new CIA director, John Brennan, who’s trying to move the agency away from its discredited past.

He has to decide whether to confirm her in the post.
